Love Wins
Every once in a while, a message finds you exactly when you need it. Mine happened to be written in bright pink. While exploring the Donner Tunnels near Truckee, I came across a heart with one simple message: Love ❤️ Wins. At the time, it felt like a fun photograph from a memorable adventure. Years later, while looking back through old images, I found it again and realized how much that simple message had quietly stayed with me.
The older I get, the more I appreciate the simplicity of those two words. Life doesn't always go according to plan. Friendships change. Relationships come and go. Some people enter our lives for a reason, some for a season, and a fortunate few for a lifetime. Dreams evolve. Opportunities appear and disappear. Sometimes we win, and sometimes we learn.
One of my favorite Michael Jordan quotes is about failure. He famously said he missed more than 9,000 shots in his career and lost hundreds of games. Time and time again, he failed. His conclusion was simple: he succeeded because he failed so often. That idea has always stayed with me. The wins are sweet precisely because they are not guaranteed. They come after the setbacks, disappointments, hard work, and countless moments when giving up might have seemed easier.
Over the years, Love Wins became more than a photograph. It became a reminder. A reminder to keep showing up, keep believing in people, keep creating, keep trying, and keep choosing kindness even when life doesn't unfold exactly as planned.
To me, love has never been limited to romance. Love is friendship. Family. Laughter. Adventure. Encouragement. Gratitude. It's the people who cheer us on, challenge us to grow, and remind us who we are when we forget. It's the experiences that connect us and the memories that stay with us long after the moment has passed.
As Lopker Love continued to grow, that message found its way into everything I created. Not because life is always perfect, but because I've learned that kindness, connection, and love tend to outlast everything else.
Love wins.
And in my world, so do laughter, adventure, hard work, gratitude, and the people we choose to share them with.
Those are the moments worth celebrating.
