San Francisco Love
Some places become part of your story, and for me, San Francisco has been one of those places. For nearly three decades, this city has been home to some of life's biggest chapters and countless everyday moments in between. It is where I built a career, formed lifelong friendships, discovered new passions, and learned that reinvention is always possible.
It is also where I found home. For years, my little Victorian flat has kept me grounded through technology booms, career changes, relationships, and the ever-evolving story of San Francisco itself. While so much around me changed, that little flat remained, a place to return to, a place to create, and a place to begin again. Each morning, I wake up to a view that still stops me in my tracks. Looking out over Coit Tower, the Bay, Treasure Island, and the Bay Bridge, I'm often greeted by soft pink skies reflected in my windows as the city wakes up below. It is a daily reminder of beauty, possibility, and the gift of a new day waiting to unfold.
I've always loved the Bay, the marinas, the neighborhoods filled with history and character, the energy of a Giants game by the water, and the glow of the Bay Bridge lights at night. What I love most is the simple joy of walking through the city and discovering something beautiful you hadn't noticed before.
San Francisco has also shaped my professional life. Over the years, I've worked with companies like Oracle, Salesforce, Zendesk, and others, helping organizations grow, evolve, and transform. What I love most about technology isn't really the technology; it's the possibility. It's the creativity of solving problems, the grit required to build something meaningful, and the people willing to imagine what could be and then go create it. In many ways, that same spirit exists throughout San Francisco. It's a city built by dreamers, creators, entrepreneurs, artists, and innovators.
While many of my earliest Lopker Love designs were inspired by Tahoe, they were actually created here in San Francisco. The city became a place where ideas took shape, photographs were captured, and creativity found room to grow. For nearly thirty years, I've photographed the city I love—the Bay, the bridges, the ballparks, the sailboats, the architecture, the neighborhoods, and all the little moments in between.
Because what I love most about San Francisco isn't just the landmarks. It's the feeling. The resilience. The creativity. The possibility. The connection.
Like Tahoe, San Francisco continues to inspire me in different ways. Tahoe reminds me to slow down, notice beauty, and appreciate the little things. San Francisco reminds me to dream bigger, keep building, and believe in what's possible. One inspires reflection, the other inspires possibility, and both have shaped who I am and continue to inspire what I create.
After all these years, I still find myself doing exactly that: capturing moments, celebrating connection, and sharing the people, places, and experiences I love most. Because in many ways, that's what San Francisco has taught me all along: keep creating, keep evolving, and never stop believing in what's possible.
